What Aglostone is?

Epoxy resin based binder of high wetting and impregnation, designed for the production of agglomerates of aggregates of different particle sizes used in gardening, tree pits, heavy duty permeable paving with aggregates within 4-8mm, where is required an intense pedestrian traffic and moderate traffic of light vehicles, cars, vehicles for golf courses, etc.

TECMA AGLO-STONE once mixed with the aggregates, compacted and hard, produces a durable permeable agglomerate that allows the passage of rain and irrigation water without the formation of pools.

The product can be used with all types of aggregates of different grain size and color, although they are recommended aggregates of different colors to white, since the nature of the binder will become a little yellow with exposure to the sun.

In the case of application for tree pits, this system solves all the many problems that have the present tree pits in the cities:

  • It eliminates urban barriers: The installation of permeable pavement extends the urban space in sidewalks at very low cost.
  • It saves water: Permeable pavement can save up to 75% of water intended for irrigation as it generates a microclimates and prevents evapotranspiration.
  • Cleaning: Installation of permeable pavement prevents the accumulation of garbage and excrements in the tree pits. The garbage collection will be easier and the cost will be lower.
  • It avoids the metal grids to be stolen or used by violent protesters for vandalism.
  • Urban security: Permeable pavement prevents falls of persons, especially blind people, women who wear shoes with heels and kids, reducing the rates of accidents.

Preparation and method of use

To produce a suitable agglomerate, dry and as clean as possible aggregateswill be used. Before applying the agglomerate and depending on the item or surface to be treated, a geotextile separation membrane will be placed. A layer of gravel grading between 5 and 25 mm will be spread homogeneously on the geotextile membrane.

A layer of about 2 cms. thickness of a rice grain type aggregate will be homogeneously spread on the gravel layer. When applying the agglomerate directly bonded to concrete or mortar, apply a coat of TECMA-AGLOSTONEwithout the aggregates, as a primer on clean and dry surface, which will increase the bonding of the agglomerate to it.

Place the aggregate once it has been weighted in a mixer of the kind used in mixing the mortar on site. Mix base and hardener component in a clean and dry container, and stir for 2 minutes with the help of a low speed mixer trying not to introduce air into the mixture. Immediately start pouring the full mixture of TECMA AGLO-STONE, into the running mixer. Allow to mix for 5 minutes to verify that all the aggregates have been wet by the product.

Pour the agglomerate on the surface to be treated and then compact tightly by tamping with mechanical or manual tools. The degree of compaction is essential for achieving high strength.

The agglomerate formed with TECMA AGLO-STONE and 4-6mm aggregate size to withstand traffic on it shall have the following thicknesses:

Pedestrians: 2.5 to 3 cm

Light vehicles: 4 to 5 cm

Automobiles: 5 to 6 cm

Aggregates of 7-10 mm or somewhat higher may be used to perform tree pits.


  • Do not apply at temperatures below 10 ° C or relative humidity above 85%.
  • Do not produce more quantity of the mixture than the quantity that can be applied before expiring the pot life of the mixture.
  • After making the mixture of base and hardener components, immediately pour it over the aggregates.
