ABSORBENT FOR HYDROCARBON SPILLS NATURAL PRODUCT

CHARACTERISTICS:
S-NatureSorb is a product with a totally natural origin, made of sphagnum peat moss. This moss comes from the North hemisphere and is grown in humid tundra areas, and it has been submitted to a dehydration treatment, until reaching a humidity contents of 0-15%. This abilities and activates it to turn it into a high absorbent power material which is able to absorb and encapsulate a great amount of oils and organic solvents, as well as making difficult the producing of lixiviates.
The dehydration process to which the peat is submitted is essential for activating the absorbing properties. In this process, the water contained in the almost microscopic capillaries in the peat leaves is removed, leaving them free and allowing an efficient absorption of organic products and their encapsulation in the capillaries which where previously full of water.

USES:
S-NatureSorb is especially recommended when removing by absorption liquid products which have been spilt in places as different as roads when spills come from goods being transported, manufacturing facilities, general workshops, especially automotive workshops, oil mills and companies related to vegetable oils, gas stations, etc.
S-NatureSorb is capable of absorbing about 8,4 litres of engine oil per kg of absorbent. The absorption power of S-NatureSorb is not limited to oils: it allows removing spills from products such as acetone, alcohol, fuel, petrol, gear oil, hydraulic oil, methylethylketone, xylene, olive oil, sunflower oil, crude oil, etc.
It’s interesting to notice the special property of S-NatureSorb of not absorbing water (hydrophobic properties), thus allowing the removing of hydrocarbon spills, oils, etc., both on land and on water.

PROPERTIES:
S-NatureSorb as an absorbent, shows the following properties, among others:
* High absorption efficiency
* Improves biodegradation of many hydrocarbons, turning them into by-products which are much less harmful.
* Great capability to suppress flammable vapours from the absorbed products, thus reducing explosion risks and making hazardous spills more manageable.
* High absorption capability with a high range of high and low viscosity liquids.
* Origen totalmente natural.
* High chemical stability with acids and other chemicals, with no harmful or toxic vapours.
* High capability of retaining the absorbed liquids. It does not cause lixiviates coming from the absorbed products.
* The product floats on water, thus allowing the removing of spills on water of products with lower density than water.
