STAR (Irrigation Water Treatment System) is a program developed by Industrias Quimicas Satecma, S.A. for comprehensive water treatment in:
- Irrigation ponds and ornamental ponds
Pipes and elements of diffusion of irrigation water
Washing/cleaning system in the agricultural products transformation industry

The main problem with these facilities is the development of algae, which clogs the transfer pumps, reduces the oxygen in the water and causes bad odors. It affects irrigation ponds, artificial lakes, decorative ponds, etc.
The solution is to eliminate algae quickly and effectively. Different algaecides can be used depending on the subsequent use of the water. It is very important to observe the type of product used to treat the water intended for irrigation of fruit trees and vegetables, since there may be traceability problems in the fruits and the sale of the harvest may be lost.
Water pipes
In the conduction pipes, deposits of materials (scale) occur that can cause blockages in the pipes themselves and in the terminal elements for diffusion, mainly in the drippers.
These embeddings can be of two types:
– Organic incrustations: called “biofilm” and these are deposits of organic matter carried by water. It is the typical gelatinous slime that forms inside the pipes and can end up blocking the outlets in the terminals
-Inorganic incrustations: in “hard water”, the salts that the water carries in solution due to its own composition (calcium and magnesium carbonates, fundamentally), form crusts inside the pipes, causing blockages in them or in the terminals. irrigation. These obstructions can also be caused by remains of fertilizers during fertigation.
